Artificial flowers may not have the look and smell of a real flower but it can be kept forever. Purchasing fake instead of real is often less expensive as well. There are many people who prefer a fake flower because of the low maintenance required to keep them looking fresh.

Artificial flowers are primarily used in the home as decorative pieces. Fake arrangements allow the feel of life and color to be brought into a room without the maintenance required of a real flower. They need to be dusted to maintain the fresh appearance; however they do not need to be watered or pruned to maintain their original look.

Artificial flowers are being used more at weddings because of the cost factor. While many brides prefer the aesthetics of real arrangements, they are realizing that the cost associated with the amount of time they are able to enjoy them is not equal. Purchasing fake arrangements for a reception ensures that the bride will be able to use them for an extended period of time. Integrating fake flowers into a bouquet can be risky, but if done properly can be beautiful.
